ECNO & SRB ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ACQUISITION

Monday, June 4, 2012

June 04, 2012

Educational Computing Network of Ontario (ECNO), which represents approximately 95% of all school boards in Ontario, announced today the purchase of the BAS2000 Budgetary Administration System from SRB Education Solutions Inc.  This move is to ensure the availability of a modern and integrated HR, Payroll and Financial product suite for its members.  ECNO has recently completed a multi-year investment in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel System (IPPS.net) and has identified the requirement to continue this investment path with BAS2000 to ensure the long-term sustainability and integration of its products.

“BAS2000 has worked alongside our IPPS HR Payroll suite for over 25 years.  The success of our recent modernization investment in IPPS.net has demonstrated the need to do the same with BAS2000.  With this acquisition we extend our product suite and are in a position to complete the full upgrade of ECNO supplied solutions and ensure both modernization and a tighter integration across the complete HR, Payroll, and Finance Suite,” states George Barnard, Executive Director of ECNO.  “With this investment and the initiation of a modernization project we anticipate the continued growth of interest in BAS2000 and its upgrade, as we refresh and integrate it more tightly with IPPS.net”

“BAS2000 has an active and supportive user community but it needed ECNO’s reinforcement and investment to support the comprehensive modernization and IPPS.net integration to continue to grow as the leading Ontario K-12 solution,” says Dave Love, SRB’s incoming president.  “ECNO provides the ideal ownership to lead the refresh of this product and while the product undergoes redevelopment, we at SRB are excited to continue to provide the highest quality of ongoing support and maintenance.  We are committed to ensuring the success of BAS2000 and of ECNO and hope to contribute to that success for many years to come.”

It is ECNO’s plan, with the support of the ECNO membership, to begin work on the creation of a request for proposal for the modernization of BAS2000 to a full .Net, web-based solution.  More information on the timing and content of this RFP will be announced in the coming weeks.

The primary objective of this investment is to guarantee the rapid development of a School Board driven, BAS2000 upgrade path for Ontario school boards providing the refreshed infrastructure with increased functionality and IPPS.net integration.
